Counselling treatment is generally used to denote a relatively brief treatment that is focused most upon a specific and more current issue or particular crisis. It often targets a particular symptom or problematic situation like a bereavement, divorce loss etc. and offers suggestions and advice for dealing with it.

The nature of more clearly defined concerns tends to result in a limited number of sessions. It is never possible to know how long it will take to work through an issue/s, however for the purposes of planning your initial commitment it is probably realistic to allow for an average of ten sessions.
